Qualmark is the New Zealand tourism industry's 100% Pure New Zealand official quality assurance. Only those businesses that are delivering a quality sustainable experience, have safe principles and practices, and showcase true kiwi hospitality, are recognised through this endorsement. We were awarded the silver rating in February 2019 after a thorough review from an independant assessor.
Assessors take a holistic approach, looking across all areas of business under four pillars: Economic, environment and culture, social and people, and health and safety.
Here are some of our eco-initiatives:
1. Educating our guests on conservation and biosecurity within New Zealand and through a 'take only photos, leave only footprints' approach.
2. Minimising waste and recycling: We are moving towards a paperless office, have reusable mugs we take on tour instead of paper and plastic cups and we insist our suppliers minimise their plastic packaging among other initiatives.
3. Working with our suppliers and partners: We like to work with businesses with strong sustainability cultures, with visions that align with ours.
4. Positive carbon off-setting: From October 1, 2019 we will plant a New Zealand native tree for every tour we run.
